Second day in - we started off at Papaya and then set off on our trip to Bwaise. Luckily, the traffic wasn’t too bad and the journey was only 45 minutes and after our nice trip we arrived at our accommodation.
After settling in we then went on a tour around Bwaise which included visiting Habeeba and hearing her moving story about opening her own tailoring business. We were then fortunate to buy her handmade work which included groovy patterns and beautiful colours.
We then had a delicious lunch, all vegetarian and organic. Once full and rested, we walked to the 2 houses we will be renovating for single mothers in Bwaise.
But by far the highlight of the day was seeing the children at the primary school - they were so adorable and had so much energy.
Then we went to meet the girls who will be participating in Girls for Girls, we were amazed to see how welcoming and enthusiastic the girls were which enabled everyone to overcome their nervousness and open up and start sharing experiences.
All in all it was a great day and I can’t wait for tomorrow and I’m sure everyone else is equally excited! Written by Martha Barr - our photographer and writer for the day.
